If there's one washing machine that defines the middle-class Indian home, it's the Whirlpool top-loader. Whitemagic, Stainwash, 360° Bloomwash: different names over the years, but the same idea. Load from the top, press start, and let it get on with it. Add Whirlpool's long line of semi-automatics, and you've got a brand that has washed a lot of Vijayawada's laundry.
Those machines are simple, sturdy and very fixable. We repair Whirlpool top-loaders, semi-automatics and the brand's front-loaders at home across the city. All washing machine repairs
Common Whirlpool Top-Load Faults
Tub Not Filling, or Filling Slowly
Whirlpool top-loaders are tolerant of low pressure, but not of a clogged inlet mesh. Hard borewell water leaves scale on that mesh within months in many parts of the city. Clean it first; if water still won't come, the inlet valve coil has likely failed.
Pulsator Not Moving
You hear the motor hum, but nothing turns. On belt-driven models, the belt has slipped or snapped. If the belt is fine, the clutch or gearbox assembly is worn. Both are routine repairs.
Not Spinning, Clothes Soaking Wet
First check the lid switch: Whirlpool won't spin with the lid open, and a worn switch makes it think the lid is always open. Then the drain (spin waits for the tub to empty), and then the clutch and brake.
Not Draining
A lint-choked drain pipe, a sticky drain valve or a failed drain motor. On top-loaders, the drain motor often also releases the brake for spinning, so a single fault can stop both draining and spinning.
Banging and Wobbling
Worn suspension rods are common on older Whirlpool top-loaders. If the banging has grown worse over months, that's your answer, and it's a straightforward fix.
Control Panel Dead
Check the socket first. If power reaches the machine, a blown fuse on the board or a voltage-damaged PCB is likely. We repair at component level where possible.
Whirlpool Semi-Automatics and Front-Loaders
Whirlpool semi-automatics are among the most common twin-tubs we repair. The usual faults are a spin tub that won't turn (lid switch, timer, brake or motor), a wash timer that has stopped, or a leaking spin seal. Parts are easy to get and repairs are quick. Semi-automatic repair
Whirlpool front-loaders are fewer in number but repaired just the same: door locks, drain pumps, bearings and control boards. Front-load repair
Tips for Whirlpool Owners
- Hard water? Use the hard-water wash option where your model has one, and descale every six months
- Clean the lint filter in the drum regularly; top-loaders rely on it
- Don't overfill: three-quarters full, loosely packed
- Spread heavy items around the pulsator rather than in one clump
- Keep the machine on a level floor, not on uneven bathroom tiles

Questions
My Whirlpool top-loader fills and washes but won't spin. Why?
The lid switch is the most common cause, followed by an incomplete drain and a worn clutch.
Is it worth repairing a ten-year-old Whirlpool?
For a lid switch, valve, belt or clutch, yes. These machines often run for years after such repairs.
Do you service Whirlpool machines too?
Yes. A yearly washing machine service with descaling keeps them running well.
