Let's clear up the biggest myth in fridge repair first. A refrigerator does not use up its gas. The refrigerant circulates in a sealed loop for the fridge's entire life. If the gas is low, it has leaked out somewhere, and simply topping it up without fixing that leak is like pumping air into a punctured tyre.

How to Tell If Your Fridge Really Needs Gas
You can't confirm low gas by looking or feeling, and neither can a technician who doesn't use gauges. But these signs make it more likely:
- The compressor runs almost all the time but the fridge stays warm
- Only part of the freezer coil frosts, or frost forms in a patchy line
- An oily stain on a pipe or near the compressor
- A faint hissing at the back when the fridge is off
- A known puncture from chipping ice with a knife

Our Gas Leak Repair Process
1. Confirm Low Pressure
We fit a service valve and gauge to read the actual pressure. No reading, no gas talk.
2. Find the Leak
We pressurise the system with dry nitrogen and trace the leak with soap solution and electronic detection. Common leak points: brazed joints near the compressor, the freezer evaporator (especially after ice chipping), the condenser in older fridges, and pipe sections that rub against the body.
3. Repair It
Accessible joints and pipes are brazed. Evaporator leaks may be repaired or the evaporator replaced, depending on location and damage. Some leaks inside the foam walls of modern fridges can't be reached; in that case we explain the options, including external bypass where suitable.
4. Replace the Drier and Vacuum the System
Whenever the system is opened, the drier filter must be replaced and the system vacuumed to remove air and moisture. Skip this, and moisture freezes inside the capillary and blocks cooling within weeks. It's the step shortcuts usually skip.
5. Charge the Correct Refrigerant by Weight
Most Indian fridges made in the last decade use R600a; many older ones use R134a. They're not interchangeable. We charge the exact type and weight on your fridge's rating label.
6. Run, Test and Follow Up
We monitor pressures and temperatures until the fridge stabilises and call you later in the day to confirm it's holding cold.
A Note on Safety
R600a is isobutane, a flammable gas, used in small quantities. It's perfectly safe in a sealed fridge, but brazing and charging it demands care: proper ventilation, no open flames near a leaking system, and the right tools. Please don't let anyone work on it with makeshift equipment, and never try it yourself.
