A side-by-side fridge is an investment. So when the ice maker stops, the dispenser drips or one half goes warm, the last thing you want is a technician who's only ever opened single-door fridges guessing at your ₹80,000 appliance.
Our senior technicians handle large-format fridges: side-by-side, French-door, multi-door and bottom-freezer models from Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Hitachi, Haier, Bosch, Siemens, IFB and Hisense. They take time over diagnosis, because these fridges reward patience and punish guesswork. All refrigerator repairs
What Makes These Fridges Different
Large fridges pack in more of everything: two or three evaporator fans, several temperature sensors, motorised dampers, an ice maker with its own heater and motor, a water valve and filter, door alarms, a main board, an inverter board and sometimes a display board. Each is a possible fault, and many faults produce similar symptoms.
That's why we read the fridge's own fault data first. Most of these models have a diagnostic mode, and some show error codes on the display. Then we test the specific circuit before ordering anything.
One Side Warm, the Other Cold
Typically a fan, a damper or a defrost fault on the warm side. In some models, the fridge side has its own evaporator; in others, cold air is ducted across from the freezer. Knowing which design you have decides where we look first.
Ice Maker Not Making Ice
Check the obvious first: is the ice maker switched on, and is the freezer below about −15°C? If both are fine, the water inlet valve, a frozen fill tube, the ice maker motor or its sensor has failed. Low water pressure and a blocked water filter cause this too.
Water Dispenser Dripping or Not Working
A worn inlet valve, a frozen line in the door, or a clogged filter. Water filters should usually be changed every six months, more often with hard water.
Not Cooling at All
Inverter board, inverter compressor, main board or gas, roughly in that order of likelihood. We test each properly and show you the readings.
Loud Noises
Ice touching a fan blade gives a scraping or clicking noise. Grinding usually means a fan motor bearing. Gurgling and occasional cracking are normal refrigerant and expansion sounds.
Error Codes and Door Alarms
We interpret codes against the model's service information. Constant door alarms usually trace to a door switch or a door that isn't closing fully because of a loose hinge or overloaded door shelves.
How We Handle Big-Fridge Repairs
We'll ask for the model number when you book, so the technician can prepare. Common parts such as fans, sensors and inlet valves for popular models are carried. Brand-specific boards and ice maker assemblies may need ordering, usually within two to four working days for mainstream brands.
These fridges are heavy, and moving them can damage floors and hoses. We pull them forward on proper sliders and protect your flooring. Where gas work is needed, we use the correct refrigerant and charge by weight, never by guesswork.
Care Tips for Large Fridges
- Change the water filter on schedule
- Keep 5–10 cm of clearance at the back for ventilation
- Don't overload door shelves; heavy bottles drag the door out of alignment
- Use a good stabiliser; inverter boards are expensive to replace
- Clean the bottom grille every few months, since many of these fridges breathe through it

Is it worth repairing a side-by-side fridge?
In most cases, yes. Even an expensive board is a fraction of a new fridge's price.
Can you repair Samsung and LG side-by-side models?
Yes, regularly. Samsung refrigerator repair · LG refrigerator repair
Should I switch the fridge off before you arrive?
No. Leave it running so the technician can observe the fault, unless it's making a burning smell.
