Short answer: Before booking fridge or AC repair, ask seven things: the visit charge, whether they diagnose before quoting, whether gas work includes finding and fixing the leak, whether parts are original, whether they test the relay or capacitor before replacing a compressor, what warranty they give, and when they can come. Good technicians answer all seven without hesitation.
The Seven Questions, and Good Answers
- "What's the visit charge?" A clear figure, adjusted if you go ahead.
- "Will you diagnose before quoting?" Yes, always.
- "If it needs gas, will you find the leak?" Yes: pressure test, repair, vacuum, then charge.
- "Original or compatible parts?" Original where available; compatible only with your agreement.
- "Will you test cheaper parts before the compressor?" Yes: relay, overload, capacitor and board first.
- "What warranty do you give?" A specific number of days on labour and parts, in writing.
- "When can you come?" A realistic window, and a call if it changes.
